Better Weight Than Ever

New Year, New Outlook, New Goals, New Beginnings. So far 2009 has been pretty spectacular when it comes to getting back on track. I have to admit that I slacked through the last ½ of the year and I even gained back much of the weight I lost in the first place, but what’s in the past is in the past and it’s time to learn from my mistakes and look forward.

First things first I eliminated any and all excuses from the past. I finally found a gym and it’s perfect for me. I got in while they were having a promotion so there was a minimal sign-up fee and the monthly fee is about $15 less than what the other members are paying (shhh…). It is an ALL women gym and it’s not super big like the mega gyms. Downfall is that they have limited hours, but let’s be honest, am I really going to go to the gym at 10pm?!?!? So I’ve been hitting the gym 6 days a week, it’s right on my way home from work so I pass it EVERY DAY! All my hard work is paying off.

I also changed my weigh-in location to a WW center. It was pretty hard getting to the WW meetings on Thursday nights right after work and that’s part of the reason why I started to slack off. I would go to a meeting here and a meeting there, but it was pretty difficult. The other thing is that they have something like 5 meetings on Saturdays and one on Sunday so if I don’t make it on Saturday, I still have an opportunity to get there the next day. Also, the leader of the new WW meetings I go to is GREAT. The other chick was a little annoying. He voice was kinda like a gnat buzzing by your ear that won’t go away.

There are a couple of fun things going on… first Tiffany and I teamed up in a weight loss competition for our county called Better Weight Than Ever. The winning team gets $500 and the biggest single loser wins $100. We are competing against 19 other teams and I’m fairly certain that if she does her part, we have a good chance of winning this thing. You’ve got to figure that half the teams will potentially give up a month into it. The competition ends in May and they have little events throughout the 5 months to keep us motivated.

I also initiated a “biggest loser” contest at work. There are 8 of us competing for the next 3 months. The biggest loser will walk with $160 and IT IS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG! It’s kinda fun being in this with people I work with, it holds all of us accountable and if the entire building can see if you gained or lost from week to week it’s a huge motivation.
